Why We’re Excited About Sploot — Utah’s New Modern Vet
We don’t talk about other companies often on this blog. When we do, it’s because the people behind them are doing something that matters — and the people behind Sploot Veterinary Care are doing exactly that.
Sploot is opening their first Salt Lake Valley clinic in Holladay this May, and we’ve teamed up with them. Here’s why we think Utah pet parents should pay attention.
A different kind of vet clinic
Most vet clinics in Utah operate on the same model: weekday hours, 9-to-5-ish, with urgent care a separate trip somewhere across town. If your dog tears a paw pad on a Saturday afternoon, good luck — most places are closed.
Sploot decided that didn’t make sense for modern pet parents. So they built something different:
- Primary, urgent, and emergency care under one roof. No referral runaround. No “you need to see your regular vet first.”
- Open 8am to 8pm, 365 days a year. That’s not a typo. Weekends, holidays, every Sunday in between.
- Same-day appointments. When something feels off, you can usually get in that day.
- Fear Free certified team. Their staff is specifically trained to reduce stress and anxiety in pets during visits — which, if you’ve ever held a shaking dog in a fluorescent-lit waiting room, you know matters more than it sounds.
- Clinics designed to actually feel calm. For pets and people.
This isn’t a brand-new operation. Sploot has been running clinics in Denver, Colorado Springs, and Chicago for years. Their first Utah location, at Holladay Hills, opens this May.
Why we’re partnering with them
We’ve been making hemp wellness products for pets here in Utah since 2014. Our origin story is straightforward: Dave’s dog Mya needed help, and the options at the time weren’t great. So we built our own — small batch, organic, sourced from a single Colorado farm we’ve worked with since day one.
Over the years, we’ve gotten to know a lot of Utah veterinarians. The good ones share a philosophy: pets are individuals, stress matters, and care should feel personal — not transactional.
Sploot fits that philosophy. Their whole model is built around treating pets like patients (not numbers) and treating pet parents like partners (not customers). That’s not the norm in veterinary medicine, and it’s why we’re excited to welcome them to the Utah market.
What this means for Utah pet parents
A few things.
If you’ve been frustrated with limited vet availability — especially after-hours, weekends, or holidays — Sploot is opening a real alternative right in the Salt Lake Valley. Not a cold emergency hospital. Not a separate urgent care across town. One clinic, one team, one set of records, available basically whenever you need them.
If your pet gets stressed at the vet (most do), Sploot’s Fear Free certification and clinic design are specifically engineered to dial that down. It’s a small thing on paper and a big thing in practice.
And if you’re a Healthy Hemp Pet customer, this is your heads-up that there’s a vet right here in Utah whose philosophy lines up with what we’ve been doing for over a decade.
How to learn more
Sploot’s Holladay Hills location is at 1895 East Rodeo Walk Drive, opening this May. You can find hours, services, and booking info on their Salt Lake City page:
→ splootvets.com/locations/salt-lake-city
If you’re reading this before the clinic officially opens, Sploot is hosting a Founding Member’s Pawty — a pre-opening event with food, a barkuterie station, professional pet photos by Fuzzy Love, and giveaways. It’s dog-friendly. Anyone who RSVPs and attends becomes a Founding Member, which unlocks early booking access plus perks from local partners.
We don’t partner with many clinics. When we do, it’s because the philosophy lines up. Sploot’s the kind of place we’d have taken Mya — and that’s about the highest endorsement we’ve got.
Welcome to Utah, Sploot. We’re glad you’re here.
