September is Animal Pain Awareness Month

Pet pain is a subject we have strong feelings about. After all, the reason Healthy Hemp Pet Company exists is to help loving pet owners manage and treat a variety of pet conditions, including pain.

Pet pain comes in many forms: surgery related pain, arthritis, cancer, just to name a few. Acute pain is easier to spot, while chronic pain can often be subtle and attributed to our pets getting older and slowing down. Aging isn’t a disease, but pain is.   • Guarding behavior

  • Decreased appetite
  • Self-mutilation (chewing)
  • Changes in posture
  • Decreased social interaction
  • Anxious expression
  • Submissive behavior

Common Signs of Pain in Cats:

  • Reduced activity
  • Loss of appetite
  • Weight loss
  • Quiet
  • Loss of curiosity
  • Changes in urinary and/or defecation habits
  • Hiding
  • Hissing and/or spitting
  • Lack of agility/jumping
  • Excessive licking/grooming
  • Stiff posture/gait
  • Guarding behavior
  • Stops grooming/matted fur
  • Tail flicking
